I read an excellent blog about President George W. Bush today and would like to share it with you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. And be sure to visit their blog at Common Sense Politics USA

I Miss W!

Posted by Flor Miguez

It’s been a year since President George W. Bush left office and I miss him – Gosh, how I miss him!

I miss the good old days when I could sleep in peace at night. I miss the days when I knew the President actually cared about my safety. I miss the days when I knew I could sleep while aboard a plane, knowing that everything would be all right. I miss the days when the President of the United States was President of the United States instead of President of the world. I miss the good old days when the President loved his country, was proud of it, and didn’t go round the globe with his “World Apology Tour.”

One of the great things about George W. Bush is his sense of humor… He always made me laugh with his jokes and he is humble enough as to make fun of himself, something I really like about him… I could listen to his speeches without falling asleep. Because he was so funny, I got interested in politics. Nowadays, when the President speaks, I will be disgusted by his arrogance, long and boring speeches, not to mention his idiotic ideas…. In the last couple of weeks, every time the President spoke, I watched “A Pup named Scooby Doo” instead….

George W. Bush is a great husband. Remember the gazes, the kisses, the playful pats, the touches and the hugs between the first couple? They are not political partners. They are a couple in love.

W. is also a great dad who loves his daughters and is really proud of them.

One of the things I miss the most about him is that he was an outstanding Commander-In-Chief. He took decisions based on what was best for the country and not based on what could make him win a Nobel Peace Prize.

He was a Commander-In-Chief who admired all of those brave men and women who are serving our country. He didn’t think they were a pretty good photo-op. He respected them, and knew that they are young smart, brave people who love their country so much and therefore they are willing to make huge sacrifices for it. I just wish Barack Hussein Obama could understand that.

I remember how the soldiers always welcomed him cheerfully, and I know they were very proud of serving under his command.

George W. Bush kept America safe by strong leadership. Under his watch, there were no terrorist attacks since 9/11. Because of his policies 23 plots against the US were foiled.

He successfully executed two wars. President Bush removed totalitarian regimes in Iraq and Afghanistan and now, 50 million people who lived in tyranny live in democracy.

George W. Bush helped improve the lives of many Afghan people, especially women and children. Saddam Hussein, a tyrant who abused the Iraqi people was removed from office and is now dead. His two murderous sons are dead, and all but a handful of members of his regime were killed or captured. The Al Qaeda network and its allies were weakened. Hundreds of Al Qaeda members were captured or killed. Khalid Sheik Mohammed (September 11th Attacks Mastermind) is in US custody, and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi (the former leader of Al-Qaeda in Iraq) was killed in 2006.

President Bush disarmed Libya of its chemical, biological and nuclear WMD’s without bribes or bloodshed.

President Bush was probably the best friend Israel has ever had in the White House.

President Bush defended US sovereignty. President Bush didn’t ask for France’s or Venezuela’s permission to do what he had to do. He told the UN that it had to enforce its own resolutions or “become irrelevant,” and if the UN wouldn’t back its own resolutions, America would do it on her own. He was unafraid to go-it-alone when our vital interests were at stake, but that wasn’t necessary because he was able of building a coalition to help us fight the enemy.

President Bush Administration notified SCOTUS that the official US government position on the Second Amendment is that it supports individual rights to own firearms. President Bush signed two bills into law that arm our pilots with handguns in the cockpit. He told the UN we weren’t interested in their plans for gun control.

George W. Bush appointed judges committed to the ruling by the letter of law. He nominated Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, Associate Justice Samuel Alito, and more than one third of federal judges, who trust me, won’t legislate from the bench. [Unlike some other Justice. a "wise latina," who thinks the Supreme Court legislates...]

President Bush STIMULATED the economy. His policies created ACTUAL JOBS for 52 months in a row. George W. Bush signed two income tax cuts, one of which was the largest dollar-value tax cut in world history. He also supported the permanent elimination of the death tax.

He inherited a recession, but wasn’t around blaming Bill Clinton. Instead he worked with his team to find a solution.

President Bush banned partial-birth abortions. By EO, he reversed Bill Clinton’s policy of nor requiring parental consent for abortions under the Medical Privacy Act. By EO he prohibited federal funds for international family planning groups that provide abortions and related services. President Bush also took steps to protect the rights of health care providers to act according to their conscience. George W. Bush made $33 million available for abstinence education programs in 2004. He also believes marriage is between a man and a woman, and supports the Defense of Marriage Act.

There are many more accomplishments, but I don’t want to make you fall asleep with a long long long long long post.

The one thing I really admire about him is that he never let a Gallup Poll influence his decisions. He followed his instincts and his principles, and you know what…? He did a great job.

The other great thing about him, is that he wasn’t a politician, he was a public servant.

I hope he is enjoying private life in his new home in Dallas, TX, with his wife, Laura, and his cute dogs, Barney and Miss Beazley.

May God bless him and his family, for their service.

I am very HAPPY to say that I am no longer associated with Dr. Matthew Whitehead. I have never been so relieved about anything in my entire life. I don’t have to go to bed every night dreading the next day. I don’t have to make myself get up every morning. I don’t have to be embarrassed to have my family, friends and neighbors know where I work or come to my office.

I no longer have to be ashamed of my job. It has been 5 long years of crude behavior, filthy language and disgusting jokes. That is coming from someone who doesn’t get offended easily. No more spending my days with a man that is too stupid to know that most people aren’t too stupid to know what is right in front of their face, a man who has no compassion whatsoever in his heart. The best part is, I will never have to lie to people like a mother of a child in pain or an elderly lady who buried her husband three days before. For the first time in a long while I am truly at peace.

NASCAR Personalities and Fans All Part of Ryan Newman Foundation’s Second Charity Book

BRISTOL, TENN. (March 20, 2010) – For Stewart-Haas Racing driver Ryan Newman and wife Krissie, their six dogs aren’t just adored animals – they’re family.

This weekend, the Newmans will release their second book Pit Road: NASCAR Stars and Their Pets, the Second Lap at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, which celebrates the NASCAR community and their beloved furry and sometimes even feathered families.

Pit Road Pets: NASCAR Stars and Their Pets, the Second Lap, gives fans an intimate look at some of NASCAR’s most loved drivers both past and present, their families and their love for animals. Crew chiefs, broadcast personalities and the people who work behind the scenes at races each weekend are all part of this picturesque book.

“The book isn’t just the drivers,” Krissie Newman said. “We have the big personalities in the sport, but we also have a large contingent of the media broadcasters; we have the people who are behind the scenes like Jay Howard, who coordinates all of the pre-race activities; we have more team owners like Richard Childress and Rick Hendrick. This is the only book that encompasses every aspect of what racing is on a non-racing scale. And it’s really incredible to listen to the personal stories that they tell about their lives away from the racetrack.”

As the follow-up to the Newman’s first Pit Road Pets book which was published in 2006, The Second Lap even delves into the heart of NASCAR – its fans. Photographer Karen Will Rogers and a team of people traveled to three racetracks during the 2009 season – Bristol Motor Speedway, Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn and Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway – to meet and photograph NASCAR’s devoted fans and their pets.

“When we started planning our second book, it was really a no-brainer to include the fans,” Krissie Newman said. “The fans are really the heartbeat of this sport. NASCAR has the most unique and most dedicated fans out there, and we wanted to showcase them and their personalities and their love for animals in our book.

“In fact, it was a chance meeting with fans that really encouraged us to help animals and start the Ryan Newman Foundation. And I can’t tell you how many fans come up to either me or Ryan to tell us about their pets or who want us to meet their dogs. It just made sense.”

The book, which sells for $24.95, is available for purchase at www.RyanNewmanFoundation.org or at the racetrack on the No. 39 Ryan Newman souvenir trailer.

The proceeds from the first book helped build a regional spay/neuter clinic at the Humane Society of Catawba Count in Hickory, N.C. To date, The Ryan Newman Foundation S.N.I.P. clinic has already performed over 13,000 spay/neuter surgeries since their doors opened in 2007, preventing the death of hundreds of thousands of unwanted and stray animals.

With the release of The Second Lap, the Ryan Newman Foundation hopes to make an even bigger impact. One hundred percent of the Ryan Newman Foundation net proceeds will be donated to animal causes such as giving grants to families that can’t afford to spay or neuter their pets. The Ryan Newman Foundation also plans to build an animal education center in North Carolina that will serve as a model for animal welfare and education throughout the U.S.

I received an update from Laurinda yesterday and want to share it with all of you.

Dear Debbie,

I wanted to give you some great news! Shelby is having her amputation tomorrow, 1/13/10, thanks to the San Luis Obispo Golden Retriever Club’s donations. I had contacted a friend to ask for a referral of a doctor that I inquired about after hearing about another Golden Retriever who had some problems with her legs and had one amputated. This request led to the President of the Golden Retriever Club offering services of asking local vets for help and then for donations after the vet was selected!

I am pleased to let you know that your post also helped on Paws Awhile! The surgery is being performed for future vets at Cal Poly University, San Luis Obispo tomorrow and I am so pleased that the students will be learning about helping animals in this way, and that the vet has over 20 years of experience with various surgeries and animal treatments, including many amputations.

I will be happy to send a picture of her after the surgery is completed and she has healed. I wanted to send you this gorgeous picture that was taken by the President of the Golden Retriever Club here, to obtain the help she so desperately needs to have her leg amputated.

Isn’t this fantastic? Thanks again!

Sincerely,

Laurinda & Shelby!!!

Robin said he is a sweet little dog and is obviously someone’s pet, not a stray. He is approximately six years old, has been neutered and was recently groomed. He loves to ride in the car.

He was taken to a local vet for an ear infection and is currently boarded there. However, she cannot afford the fees and will soon have to bring him home where he will be kept in a crate. She already has five dogs, so she will not be able to keep the cocker. She placed an ad in her local newspaper, but so far no one has claimed him.

If anyone knows the owner of this dog or would like to adopt him, please contact me. We need to find a home for this little guy. I am very afraid he will be put down if we don’t. Please pass this on to anyone who may be able to help.

Hi Debbie,

I saw something on NASCAR today about possible assistance with surgery for animals in need, and I just adopted Shelby, a 2 yr old Golden Retriever from our local shelter in San Luis Obispo on 9/1/09. She was kept by a breeder and has recently had pups, but was born with a deformed or congenital leg that does not work, no range of motion and “literally” hangs on her side as she attemps to jump up and climb stairs, all the while oblivious to her situation.

She is a wonderful dog, I love her dearly and she is acclimating very well to my 12 yr old Lab Mix and 7 yr old Kitty.

I would like to find out if there are any assistance programs to help pay for the amputation of the leg, as it is possibly going to cost around $3,000. and I just don’t have that kind of money, but couldn’t stand to see her stuck at the Pound with the possibility of not being rescued and being put down.

Here is her picture and any information on who I can contact or how to would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Laurinda
